We are getting amped up for the blockbuster world heavyweight title clash. With Oleksandr Usyk (19-0-0, 13 KO’s, 6 submissions) taking on Anthony Joshua (24-1-0, 22 KO’s, 2 submissions) in what looks all set to be an exhilarating rematch, check out everything that’s going down on Fight Night .
The boxing titans will come up against each other for the second time on August 20th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, contending for the IBF, WBA and WBO belts. The rematch was originally planned to take place in May but had to be put on hold due to the ongoing war in Usyk’s native Ukraine.
The winner might potentially have the chance to take on recently retired WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, “if the money is right”. This has undoubtedly piqued AJ’s interest who is looking forward to the chance at becoming three-time heavyweight champion.

After Joshua lost to Usyk by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September 2021, most people agreed that the better man won on the night. The Ukrainian gave a remarkable display of his skills, outclassing his British opponent and impressing audiences on the night, despite it being only his third heavyweight fight. It also marked the second defeat of Joshua’s career, making the upcoming rematch all the more appealing.
“Definitely the hunger’s still there,” Joshua said about the upcoming fight, while also admitting defeat in his last match with Usyk and expressing respect for his contender. It seems like “the comeback king” is ready to avenge his loss and reclaim his titles this time round, however:
“If I’m around someone that’s better than me on the night, I have to push myself to be better than them. The great thing is I’ve got a second chance.”
Meanwhile, the undefeated Usyk has had bigger battles to face lately, having spent a good three months of 2022 serving in the Ukrainian army to fight the Russian invasion in his homeland. However, he was recently allowed to go back to his training camp by his country’s sports minister in order to get ready for the big rematch.
Usyk has been much less vocal about the highly anticipated main event against Joshua, instead expressing his feelings about the dire situation back home in Ukraine and choosing to focus on keeping his head down and doing his job until Fight Night:
“I never made any loud and bright speeches. All I did is I just work hard in my training camp in my gym, that’s what I’m gonna do until the fight. And then I will enter the ring and I will make you happy with my boxing, thank you.”
Both fans and bookies are favoring Usyk to claim victory once again, especially given the 35-year old’s recent weight transformation, after having bulked up considerably since his last encounter with AJ.
