Mr. Roo has always been a massive esports fan, even before this particular sports brand started making its way to the mainstream. The emergence and growth of esports over the past few years have given way to more betting markets and opportunities for players to get involved, and Roobet was one of the first to jump on the bandwagon.
This is why it shouldn’t come as a surprise that your favorite kangaroo is proud to announce a brand new partnership with one of the most famous esports teams in the world - none other than South American-based 9z!
This Argentinian esports organization has been in action since 2018 when world-famous streamer Frankkaster put together the first roster. The team has flourished since then and is now widely recognised as one of the world's top CS:GO esports teams, boasting total earnings of $140,930. For anyone unfamiliar with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, this tactical first-person shooter game is one of the most played MOBA esports ever, with many dedicated tournaments and leagues regularly taking place in different regions.
Just last April 2022, 9z became the first non-Brazilian South American team to qualify for a CS:GO Major at the PGL Antwerp, with players hailing from Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
Last year was quite a successful one for 9z, after their win of the FiReLEAGUE 2022: Argentinian League, as well as making it to the top three teams at CCT South America Series #1, FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Fall 2022, Intel Extreme Masters Road to Rio 2022: American RMR and FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals.
And now, after the appointment of the former analyst “ as their head coach to replace “zakk”, it’s likely that the team will return to the esports scene very soon when the open qualifiers for Intel Extreme Masters Spring 2023 begin. 9z may also appear at the next CCT South America Series #4, but this will be announced at a later stage.
Although many of the team’s original members have parted ways over the years, their current roster, including new recruits Lucas "nqz" Soares and Nicolás "buda" Kramer, is filled with bright, young talent ready to take on the next big esports event with lots of determination!
9z also happened to participate in the Roobet Cup in June 2022 and finished in fifth place. Mr. Roo’s legendary esports tournament was probably the first ever to be hosted by a kangaroo! With 16 top esports teams from all over the world throwing their hats in the ring, including Cloud9 and MOUZ, the tournament held a prize pool of $250,000.
Since that fateful day, Roobet and 9z’s relationship has continued to grow until it was inevitable that an official partnership would soon follow!
Mr. Roo is absolutely thrilled to have the 9z team in his corner, and with esports taking the world by storm with each passing day, we can only expect more tournaments and events in the cards.
