Mr Roo had the opportunity to catch up with our ambassador, Brandon Moreno, to catch up with him after his win against Kai Kara-France to become the flyweight champion of the world.

You are now the Interim Flyweight champion of the world! What does that mean to you?

It was just one more obstacle I have overcome In my life, the goal is to be the undisputed champion, but it feels good to have a gold taste again.

What does your training schedule look like leading up to a tough match?

I’m always training. It has been my lifestyle for a very long time, but when I have a fight coming up I have to be smart with my training sessions, so I make a plan with my team, about how many practices I can have to do my best.

Do you have any pre-fight rituals?

Everything starts in the morning, I try to keep the same routine as a normal day. Then before I to go to the arena I like to dress properly for the occassion and from the moment I’m in the locker room, I’m just ready to watch el bebé asesino be released.

What, in your opinion, are the qualities needed to be a top-performing, successful UFC fighter? Not only physically, but also, what is the mindset required?

Your mind has to be ready to be tough in every single moment in your life, including bad and good moments.

What has been your hardest fight to date?

Definitely against figgy (Deiveson Figueiredo) , specifically the third one.

What fight have you have enjoyed the most?

The first one against Kai kara-France.

What motivated you as a youngster to take fighting professionally?

The love for the sport and all the values that I have learned.

What advice would you give to young, up and coming fighters that would like to follow in your footsteps to become a great UFC athlete?

Not just in this sport, but in life, you need to be smart, be resilient and work hard every single day if you really want to success.

When do you think your championship fight will be?

I want to fight in the last PPV of December, but is very possible the could be January 21 in Brazil, nothing clear yet.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years' time?

Retired from my fighting career, but still working, enjoying my family and always trying to be happy.
